Every disease can be categorized as a Traditional Chinese Medicine Pattern of Imbalance.

This is my job:  gathering all the information the body is expressing by way of signs and symptoms, synthesizing that information into the Pattern(s) of Imbalance it describes, and using acupuncture and TCM herbs to restore balance to the system.  This holistic medical system is extremely effective, and is limited by one major component:  diet.

Science continues to pump out evidence that a plant-based diet can not only delay the progress of major disease, but can reverse that progress.  We are what we eat, or, as I prefer to put it, we are what we don’t excrete.  A diet rich in fruit, vegetables and grains pumps our bodies full of antioxidants, nature’s cleaners.  Evidence shows that consuming animal-based foods adds toxins to the body, increasing our incidence for developing major diseases.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, dairy products cause Pathogenic Dampness in the body.  Meat and egg products are generally considered to add Heat.  When we add Heat to Dampness, we get Damp-Heat, better known as inflammation.  Inflammation is the culprit responsible for most of the diseases that kill us:  cancers, heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, etc.  It is also the root cause of conditions that make our lives more difficult, such as auto-immune diseases (asthma, allergies, eczema, rheumatoid arthritis, Lupus, etc.), osteoarthritis and chronic pain.

With Traditional Chinese Medicine methods, we can help with all of the above conditions.  What would it be like if we were able to remove the mucogenic and inflammation-causing agents from our diet?  Currently, much of our work is in helping the body remove the buildup of Dampness and Heat.  What if it weren’t there?  We could go directly to work on the underlying patterns causing the imbalance.

The best favor you can do for yourself and your health is to adopt a Whole Food Plant Based diet.  You’ll see that your acupuncture and herbal therapies can be a heck of a lot more effective in the inflammation-free environment such a diet would provide for your body.   Don’t take my word for it, and don’t simply trust all of the science behind the notion.
